Thanks to Terry White and his Tech-blog for pointing this out: a service called Coinstar will let you pour in your loose change and give you back a gift card from various places, including the iTunes Music Store. In the past they charged for the service of turning your coins into a certificate you could use in-store, but there's no fee if you get one of these cards.
