To adjust the tracking of text (tightening or loosening the space between all the letters of selected text), use these shortcuts (after highlighting the text):
increase tracking (loosen spacing): Option (PC: Alt) and the right arrow key
decrease tracking (tighten spacing): Option (PC: Alt) and the left arrow key
To change the tracking in larger incremenets, add in the Command key (PC: Control key)
Command Option (PC: Control Alt) and the right arrow key or
Command Option (PC: Control Alt) and the left arrow key
