As of CS2, the latest Camera Raw opens with all the Auto adjustments turned on. To see what your image looks like with all the auto settings off, press Command U (PC: Control U).
If you'd like to change the default in Camera Raw so that the Auto settings are off by default, turn them off, then use the popup menu show here to choose "Save New Camera Raw Defaults".
